Asian stocks mostly rose on Thursday, Nov. 30. Hong Kong stocks gained as the Hang Seng Index rose by 0.3% to 17,042.88. Japan's Nikkei 225 Index also saw a gain of 0.5% to reach 33,486.89.
China's Shanghai Composite Index increased by 0.3% to 3,029.67. On the other hand, Singapore stocks declined by 0.4% with the FTSE Straits Times Index at 3,072.99. South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index added 0.6% to reach 2,535.29, while Australian stocks gained 0.7% as the S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index reached 7,087.30.
Notable Increases in Nikkei 225 Index Firms
Within the Nikkei 225 Index, Advantest Corp saw the largest increase on Thursday with a 4.3% rise in shares. NEC and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha also experienced gains, with shares rising by 3.9% and 3.2%, respectively.
Decrease in Japanese Companies
Shiseido, a cosmetics/toiletries company, saw the largest decrease in Japan on Thursday with shares weakening by 5.1%. Meanwhile, Mercari and Rakuten Group, both in the e-commerce industry, experienced declines of 3.5% and 2.8%, respectively.
Highlights Among Hang Seng Index Constituents
Hansoh Pharmaceutical saw the largest increase among Hang Seng Index constituents on Thursday with shares rising by 4.6%. Zhongsheng Group Holdings, a motor vehicle dealing firm, and Tencent Holdings, an online service providers company, saw their shares rise by 3.2% each.
Drop in Hong Kong Firms
Alibaba Hlth Info Tech, a pharmacies/drugstores company, experienced the largest drop in Hong Kong with shares falling by 3.9% on Thursday. CK Asset Holdings, a real estate services/transactions firm, and Geely Automobile Holdings, a passenger cars company, saw their shares fall by 2.9% each.
